Alliance Française was created in 1883 by some of the most prominent personalities of the 19th century such as Gaston Maspero, Louis Pasteur, Ferdinand de Lesseps, Armand Colin, Jules Verne, Paul Cambon, Pierre Foncin or Ernest Renan. There are currently 830 Alliances Françaises in 135 countries

Alliance Française Cayenne is an association created in 2007, in a context of cultural diversity, whose objectives are the promotion of the French language and francophone cultures. Alliance Française Cayenne brings together those who wish to contribute to the development and promotion of intercultural exchanges in a francophone context. 

Alliance Française learners are representative of the linguistic and cultural diversity of the Guyanese territory, whether they are speakers of regional languages (Creole, Sranan Tongo, Nengé, Palikur, Teko, Wayampi, Wayana, Kal'ina, Arawak) or foreign languages. (Haitian Creoles, Caribbean, Asian languages, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, English, Arabic) they all have a common goal : to learn to speak and write better in French. .
